Evening all,
I made a whole bunch of cards for PTI’s August GSS (Guest Star Stamper) Contest. Five of the cards are actually already on my blog as I’d made them before the contest but the rest were kept a secret until the contest closed!
I entered into two categories – ‘Best Use of On My Couch’ and ‘Best Use of Previous Set’ (although some could be entered under the ‘Best Use of Buttons’ category as well I suppose). The two entries for ‘On My Couch’ that were already on my blog are here and here, and the entries for ‘Previous Set’ are here, here and here.
All the remaining cards were for the ‘On My Couch’ category, and I’m going to post them one at a time on here. Well, gotta give you something to keep coming back for!
The first card I’m posting is quite a masculine card. After playing around creating my Denim Card before I wanted to try translating that into a couch!
I love how this card turned out – simple but really came across the way I wanted it to! I stamped the couch by inking Adirondack Denim and Weathered Wood Distress Ink onto my Cornish Heritage Farms Denim Backgrounder. I then added a bit of the same inks onto the solid couch stamp before kissing the couch stamp onto the backgrounder to pick up the texture. The denim couch was then stamped onto Rustic Cream cardstock.
Onto the cushion – I love how this was made! I wanted to make it look like the leather patch you get on the backs of jeans so I started off with Grungepaper and applied SU! Creamy Caramel on using the direct-to-paper technique. I then stamped the cushion and the stars from Cupcake Collection in PTI True Black and smeared on Frayed Burlap Distress Stickles with my finger.
I used a Copic marker to give a bit of depth towards the centre of the cushion (once the stickles were dry!) and added a touch of Glossy Accents right in the centre! I cut out and shaped the Grungepaper cushion by hand (*love* how malleable Grungepaper is!) and adhered to the couch using Pinflair Glue Gel.
I cut a square card base from PTI Kraft cardstock, measured a border and drew lightly with a Copic marker before using my Inkessentials Opaque White Pen to draw stitches on near the border by hand. Actually thinking about it those steps might be the other way round, can’t remember!
I masked off the border and then using Background Basics: Text Style and VintageTouch Chai ink to give a background that wasn’t overpowering. The rug was stamped in SU! Sahara Sand before the couch was adhered using Pinflair Glue. The couch is actually 3D but doesn’t show up well in the photos!
The sentiment was stamped in PTI True Black. Finally I wrapped a length of Rustic Cream Button Twine round repeatedly in a haphazard manner and secured at the side with a knot. I like the look of the ends being assymmetric and random, and I love that long bit curling up the card!
So what do you think? I really like how this one turned out!!
Oooh, I love how you stamped the couch without the feet…makes it look like a realistic couch in a dorm or small apartment. The twine rocks!
A fab entry Taheerah – so clever to make your stamping look like fabric!! I love your CAS layout too – fingers crossed it catches Nicole's eye ;D
Hugs,
Aimes
