Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #14 – Attempt 1!!

By Taheerah | 12th August 2009 | 6 Comments

Hello everyone,

Well, I’m still way behind, and still creating more than I’m posting!! I will get that sorted soon, promise!

In the meantime I need to get my entry up for Dawn’s latest colour challenge:

What a fantastic colour combination! I *love* purple and pink! So the challenge should be easy for me right? Not so! I can’t quite get what’s in my head translated to cardstock yet. So for now I’m going to post a ‘banker’ card while I try and sort the next one out. I only have one day left so not sure if I’m going to manage it!!

Here is my entry for the time being:

I can’t decide if I like this card or not! I think it’s because I want to make more use of the colours in terms of cardstock rather than just ink, I’m not sure.

The base is Vintage Cream, onto which I stamped the striped pattern using various lines from my PTI ‘Faux Ribbon’ set. I really need to make more use of this set as it is really versatile! The stripes were stamped with Raspberry Fizz and Plum Pudding.

I then turned to my Cupcake Collection set yet again and stamped the base in Scarlet Jewel. The top outline of the cupcake is actually PTI VintageTouch Chamomile with Chai on top, then Raspberry Fizz on top of that, but it’s ended up looking like Scarlet Jewel which is a happy accident!

The cream of the cupcake was stamped with the solid version of the cream using PTI Vintage Cream ink. I stamped the sentiment in Raspberry Fizz and Plum Pudding. I also added a touch of glitter to the cupcake using my Quickie Glue Pen and Kars Extra Fine Glitter. I love this stuff and as it’s so fine it really goes a long way!!

The stars in the background are from the Mod Squad set and stamped in Vintage Cream. I love the tone-on-tone Vintage Cream look, it’s so rich yet subtle, and classy & elegant to boot!

For some finishing touches I took a piece of Plum Pudding Swiss Dot Ribbon and cut at an angle with pinking shears, then adhered in a loop off the edge of the card. I added a Raspberry Fizz button which had been knotted with Rustic Cream button twine.

So what do you think? I still can’t decide if I’m warming to this card or not, but it is making me in the mood for a cupcake!!

  1. Just thought you should know that I CASEd this card on my blog this morning Taheerah! (of course, I linked back to you and this post too.)

  2. Taheerah, I think you did a smashing job! I had trouble with this challenge too, it was HARD, but your card is adorable. The stamping on the side is awesome, and although I have never bought "Faux ribbon", your card has me wondering why not!
