Hey everyone! Happy Weekend!!! Wooo!!!
Certainly is a happy weekend for me! I got the news yesterday that I will be appearing in the July/August Edition of Paper Crafts Magazine! The regular issues are *way* harder to get into than the Special Issues so I couldn’t be more excited!!
I submitted two cards, and as it turns out, the one I thought was a million times better than the other… didn’t get picked. lol, funny when that happens, huh? But that means I get to share my new-all-time-favourite card with you here today!
I entered this into the ‘Just Add Water’ category. I used this technique to create come custom washi tape. It’s very simple to do but the results are just awesome! Here’s what I created:
What do you think? I know it is very minimalist – but that’s just what I love about it! It is very different for me but I think I’ve learned and applied a lot from what I’ve seen out there in Blogland from amazing designers such as Cristina Kowalczyk and Jennifer Rzasa – or at least, I hope I have!!
I started with creating my custom washi tape. I used some patterned paper from the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook line and trimmed it into a strip. I then adhered it to a piece of Scotch Tape, pattern side down. All you do next is immerse it in water until it’s soaked through, then use the pads of your fingers to rub the paper off, leaving the pattern behind. Amazing huh?!
I sprayed the back of my tape with spray adhesive so it would stick, then adhered it onto a Stamper’s Select White card base. I placed a thin strip of True Black cardstock behind it first so that it would overlap it – love the contrast of the pattern against the black!
Keeping to a very minimal style, all I did next was add a thinner strip of black over the top (using spray adhesive and a little touch of Pinflair Glue Gel to make sure it stayed), then added the sentiment from Fabulous Frames using Versafine Onyx Black ink and that’s all it needed!
I would really, really like to know what you think of this card, mainly because I’m so proud of it!! I hope you all have a lovely weekend – mine is going to be filled with creating more beautiful things, and maybe a little housework if I am stuck for inspiration, lol! Have a great day everyone, thanks so much for stopping by!!
Yep, love, love, love it Taheerah! Right up my street – CAS with a pop of colour and great design!
You just KNEW I would love this!! I'm shocked it didn't get picked up, but so glad you shared it with us. The colors…technique…,minimalism…it's perfect!!
Very pretty CAS card T!
What a cool technique, what a cool card. You've got a new follower in me, so glad I stopped by!
I love it! It's COOL!
Ooooooooooh…..I just super LURVE this!!!
What a great CAS, modern card! I really love that Amy Tangerine line, and the black is such a sleek accent!
Very cool technique! I love how the colors are still so bright! Great card!
Actually followed you from Ames' blog.
Congratulations on getting published. I had read this technique a couple years ago and had actually been looking for it again, for quite some time.
Thanks for posting it.
I LOVE it, Taheerah! I haven't seen that technique before (I miss a lot), but it is so cool! The minimalism works for the card.
super pretty!
Congratulations on getting a card requested for publication, T.!
This is such a great technique for the just add water challenge– I love it!
fun card!
Such a great effect, Taheerah! Love how the spotlight is really on your cool technique. I've done scotch tape on a book page before … if you take the tape off the ink from the words will adhere to the tape, no rubbing required. That's next on my card to-do list : )
Congrats on the PC submission!!
Super cute Taheerah! I love how it turned out! Clever idea!
oooh cracking card Taheerah- love the technique!
I think it's super cool! Blog land is inspirational!
I've never tried this before! Sounds fun! Your card is fabulous T!!
