I’m back today to share Day 4 of my Valentine’s Cards series. For those of you who have missed the past few days, here’s what’s been going on:

Due to the popularity of my 25 Days of Christmas Cards posts (well, they were popular with me anyway!), I thought I’d bring you a series of cards that are perfect for Valentine’s Day! And, just to give this series a little twist, I am challenging myself and keeping them all as cards that are suitable for guys! Every year I see a smorgasbord of beautiful Valentine’s cards, and they are all very well done and very inspiring – but they all tend to be very girly. So I’m bucking the trend and bringing you a fortnight of cards dedicated to the men in our lives!

So today’s card is inspired by movies, and I had a very specific idea I wanted to execute:

This is another card that holds a very special place in my heart as it was one of my published cards last year in Stamp It! Cards Volume 9:

So let’s get on with discussing some details huh?

I started with a Stamper’s Select White cardstock panel and stamped the clapper board from Bo Bunny’s Mama-razzi set using Versafine Onyx Black ink. The image actually has two white panels in the middle to ‘write’ in, but I wanted an all-black clapper board so I masked off the rest of it and then stamped the remaining areas in black using the reverse of one of the Label Basics set.

I trimmed out the entire image, pressed it into my Versamark inkpad and then coated it in WOW! Clear Matt Dull embossing powder and heat embossed.

Next I stamped the sentiments from MFT’s At The Movies and PTI’s Love & Marriage sets using Versamark ink, then heat embossed with Filigree White embossing powder. I then stamped the little companion images from Calendar Basics and At The Movies using StazOn Jet Black ink.

Now, because I didn’t want a flimsy clapper board, I actually then adhered it to some coaster board using Scor Tape and trimmed it out again. You can skip this part though. *wink*

I then adhered the clapper board to my Stamper’s Select White card base using Pinflair Glue Gel. Lots of dimension in this one!

See that cool filmstrip border detail at the top and bottom edges of the base? I punched that carefully with a Film Strip border punch from MonocoDirect.com. I had searched high and low for the perfect punch for this look! The actual punch punches much deeper into the cardstock, so I had to measure and mark the reverse to line it up and only cut it at the depth that I wanted. This also helped me line up top and bottom strips exactly. Tricky but worth it. 🙂

Well, I have so much crafting to do today and so little time – I had better get to it! As usual I would love to hear your thoughts on this card and on this series too.
