Wish Big!

Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a happy Monday!

Today I’m bringing you a card that’s not for any challenge or such. I created it just because it made me happy:

What do you think? Hopefully all those bright colours and cuteness factor make you happy too!

I started with a Stamper’s Select White card base and die cut several clouds from Eclipse Masking Tape using the PTI Cloud 1 & 2 dies. I adhered these to my base and then spritzed with several mists: Electric Blue Glimmer Mist, Powder Blue and Calico White Mister Huey’s. I then removed the clouds and repeated this lightly so I didn’t have too stark a contrast with those shapes. I then dabbed some Fresh Snow ink and some Mister Huey’s Calico White onto the card as well, to soften further and give the impression of softer, more formless clouds.

Next came all those balloons! I used 1″ and 1/2″ circle punches to punch lots of balloons out from 5th & Frolic and Everyday Eclectic patterned papers. I adhered them all to my base at varying heights using Pinflair Glue Gel then smothered them in Glossy Accents (this is still drying slightly hence the slight cloudiness of the balloons in my photos!). Next I added the balloon strings from Everyday Button Bits using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I stamped these repeatedly, then added some other strings as well. How? Well. I took an automatic pencil, dabbed into my Versafine pad and drew. Repeatedly. Over and over. Seriously, this part took a while!

I then stamped the cute little Virgo girl from Mama Elephant’s Cosmic Stars using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with Copics. I trimmed her out, cutting the star out of her hand, and adhered her to my base with Pinflair.

I added the sentiment from Stylish Sentiments: Birthday, customising it a bit by adding an exclamation mark and a star about the ‘i’. Then to continue the star theme I stamped lots of little stars from On Target and Midnight Letters using Berry Sorbet, Harvest Gold, Aqua Mist and Limeade Ice inks, creating a lovely bokeh effect. And I was all done!

Well, that’s it from me for today. I’m going to be spending the day crafting as much as possible – how about you? Thanks so much for stopping by, I would love it if you left some love before you went on with your day!

  1. Hahaha, of course you drew balloon strings using the ink pad and a pencil shell. What else is a girl to do?! Nice job with the glossy accents … not a bubble to be found. And your sentiment confused me at first (could that be the exclamation from "Yay"? I just used that today!) I knew it, but I didn't. Now it makes sense, in a Frankenstein kind of way!

  2. What a super sweet little card! I love the misted clouds in the background! I love that you're a brave crafter and will try practically any kind of technique!

  3. My youngest child was all decked out in Neon today and it immediately made me think of YOU and how I haven't had time to visit the past few days.

I love your cloud background. I may need to go get myself some spray mists to try your technique! Such a sweet happy card.

  4. This card is truly amazing! The background is so well done, I thought it was a patterned paper! And the balloons…just wow…at first I thought they were like Joscie's flairs, the glossy accent is applied so perfectly! Beautiful design and such a happy card!

  5. Wow, this is fantastic, T.! I love that cloud background and how you added those little multicoloured stars! And that cluster of balloons is wonderful, too!
