I’m back today with my card for Day 3 of the Pattern Play class. For Day 3’s homework we were to create a card using a hard to use and/or bold pattern. I am *so* enjoying this class! I wouldn’t have stretched myself with patterned paper were it not for it!
I actually really loved this challenge and came upon this design and card pretty quick:

I started with a neutral pattern from the My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks patterned paper collection. I trimmed a panel to size, inked the edges with my VintageTouch Chamomile ink then adhered to my Stamper’s Select White card base. This card is 3.75″ x 5.5″ – I’ve been making a lot of slimmer cards these days and now an A2 card looks ‘fat’ to me, lol! I splattered the paper with Electric Blue Glimmer Mist to add some interest and tie in with the rest of my colour scheme.
I then thought about one of the boldest patterns in my collection, and certainly one that is harder to use – it’s this pattern from the Sassafras Sunshine Broadcast collection:
Fun, but very bold and busy! To tame it I decided to die cut some clouds from it using the MFT Cloud Trio die. Flowery cards? Why the honk not?!
To help add a little subtle definition to my clouds I edged them with A:Muse Bermuda ink. I then adhered them to my base, together with a die cut I had lying on my desk (die cut from 24 Karat cardstock) using Pinflair Glue Gel.
Finally I added the sentiment from Up, Up & Away using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Way to grab the bull by the horns, and really go for that bossy paper! LOVE it! Who would have thought "clouds" out of that paper? So SMART to edge them with light blue … ties them all together, and really tells you that they're clouds. Love your doily sun too!

If you've got a bold pattern, die cut it!! Brilliant! I should remember that for later, it's such a fun idea and I'm usually stuck with my layers and such. lol

Why the honk wouldn't you make flowery clouds? They are fab! Misting/splattering on pp is so honking cool.
Great card! I love the way you used the doily for the sun and I wouldn't have picked that paper for clouds but I just love how it looks!
