2013!

Hi everyone! How are you doing today?

Today I’m sharing a funky card I made for Gel-à-Tins using the Mini Retro Flakes and Mini Fancy Flakes sets!

I still see fireworks when I look at these little flakes! Maybe it’s just me?! But anyway, I’m alright with that when it means I can create cards like this:

How funky is that?! I even managed to sneak in some trends while I was at it – with neon and ombre making an appearance!
I started by stamping my landmarks silhouette using the Hero Arts International Skyline stamp in Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossing with WOW! Clear Semi Dull embossing powder. I then stamped all my flakes using Versamark ink and heat embossed with the same powder.
Next I blended my Hero Arts Neon inks onto my card to create that fantastic sky – the flakes and skyline showcase the emboss resist technique to perfection! After that all I did was add the numbers at the top using the Headline Alphabet set and that’s all that was needed! I know it’s been 2013 for quite some time but that doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate a good year so far, right?!

Well, I’ve still got a lot to do and catch up on even though it’s Sunday, so I’d better hop to it! I would love to know what you think of this card before you get on your way though! Thanks so much for stopping by – please leave some love if you’re feelin’ it!

ETA: I hadn’t noticed before but this card fits in nicely with the Papertrey Make It Monday that’s just about to finish(!) but I’m linking it up anyway!

  1. I cannot put those neon inks down. They turned out to be a great investment, no? Love them here on your skyline. Dynamic use of flakes/fireworks with a sunset. I like to think of them as flakes on this card … because it's so different to see a sunset with snowfall.

  2. I have that skyline stamp by Hero Arts and very nearly parted with it. However, I just don't think I can do it after seeing this cool card! 😀
    Hugs!
