Sending Thank Yous

Hey everyone! Happy end of 2013! Are you ready for 2014 to start?!

I’m back today with a card that is all about thanks. I guess I want to dedicate this one to all of you who have been such a wonderful audience and provided so many wonderful comments and so much support for me throughout the year. And I suppose it’s a thanks for 2013 as well – it’s of course not been without its bad times, but overall this has been a year where I’ve grown in a lot of ways, and I have to be thankful for all the good times and wonderful opportunities that have come my way as well. I’ll be writing a separate (crafting-related) post on that a bit later, but for now let’s get on with the card, shall we? 🙂

I pulled out a stamp I bought a while ago – the Hero Arts Sending A Thank You stamp – and created this:

I hope this one is a good send-off for 2013! I certainly like it! 🙂

I started with a piece of Smokey Shadow cardstock and stamped the stamp using what will now be my go-to white ink. I just received the new GinaK White Pigment ink and O.M.G. I bought this after seeing some images from Gina on how this stamps, but I was not prepared for just how great a white this is!! The coverage and opacity on Kraft and dark cardstocks is amazing!! I heat set it with my heat gun afterwards just to be safe but I had no smudges and the ink didn’t seem to take forever to dry either – bonus!!

I then took the little tick from Papertrey’s Santa Stationery set and stamped the ticks in place. I inked up most of the image but left part of the tail off so they weren’t as long. I then heat embossed them with WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder. I trimmed my panel then inked and smudged the edges slightly, and rubbed on a tiny amount of white ink in places for chalk marks, and used a white pencil to add a couple of extra details.

Next, the woodgrain panel! This I created in the same way as in this postRustic White cardstock, stamped with the Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain stamp using Distress Inks in Tea Dye, Brushed Corduroy and Vintage Photo (misted before stamping), heat setting, then blending in those Distress inks, and Distress Inks in Pumice Stone and Gathered Twigs, misting, heat setting and repeating once more, then inking the edges, to bring out that very realistic looking and rich woodgrain.

I adhered my chalkboard panel to that then adhered both to a Smokey Shadow card base and that was me done!

Well, that is my last card for 2013! I will also be doing a ‘Top X’ post of cards, hopefully posting today, so please stay tuned for that! And my other post that I mentioned to! In the meantime I want to wish you all a Happy New Year and again thank you so much for your part in making my 2013 so great (in places!). Thanks so much for stopping by – I would love it if you left some love before you went on your way!

  1. THANK YOU to you too, Taheerah! You've done some awesome work this year, and even though I'm so bad at commenting, I'm noticing:) You've really pushed yourself creatively this year and the results have been nothing less than spectacular! Keep up the awesomeness! And thanks for all the inspiration! Hugs!!

  2. Wow, what a great card. The chalkboard effect looks great against the woodgrain and that stamp is wonderful! Wishing you a wonderful New Year and 2014, and I look foward to your next posts x
