Hey everyone!
Happy Monday! I know, I know, Mondays are tough. We all need a little tonic to help us get through the day. Luckily there’s a new challenge in town to help us do that – the Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge!!
This is a challenge which I’ve created myself, yay me! Every Monday I will bring you a photo inspiration challenge, with images that focus on lifting us out of those Monday doldrums and all inspired to create!! I’ll be asking you to play along as well and linking up your creations! At the end of each week I’ll pick a Top 3 who’ll be my Cures For The Monday Blues and receive a special badge to add to your blog!!
Before we get to this week’s challenge I want to thank all of you that submitted entries for the last challenge. They were all truly beautiful entries and you did not make my life easy when choosing the winners!! I really wanted to pick you all!! Here are my Top 3 Cures For The Monday Blues:
Winners please contact me to be sent your challenge winner’s badges!
So are you excited to get this week’s challenge under way?! Let’s see what’s up for this week’s challenge:
Pattern-tastic indeed! There’s so much you can use here!!
I decided to focus just one of the square panels, plus one of the cushions. The panel on the right reminded me of ikat so I used that to drive my design:
Love how bold and graphic this came out!
I started with a panel of Pure White card base and stamped the triple medallion ikat image from WPlus9’s Borders & Backgrounds 1 set using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then stamped the inner, smaller ikat – once with Versafine, then added a layer of Wink of Stella Black Glitter pen, then another layer of Versafine for some more depth.
Next I trimmed a piece of patterned paper from the Simple Stories I {Heart} Summer collection and stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Big Words. I broke up the lines with my Uni-ball Signo White pen so the letters would stand out more, then adhered the strip to my card base using Pinflair Glue Gel before adding some enamel dots to finish. Quick and simple!
So now it’s your turn to cure the Monday Blues! Here’s how to participate in the challenge!

Congrats to your shout outs–wonderful inspiration!
Congrats to all the winners. One more challenging image and great sample from you. The coat with the black Wink of Stella pen worked really well to emphasize the centers of the Ikat pattern. I also like how you delineated the sentiment to be more visible against the striped PP.
Thanks for picking my card Taheerah!
Love how you interpreted the colors into enamel dots in your gorgeous card!
All 3 of the inspiration photos have been nothing short of … well, inspiring! You've got a great eye : ) Don't think I've seen black on black ikat before. Your layering technique sounds so interesting. Love your square format to match the design! So attractive!
