Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday!
I’ve wanted to play along with the WPlus9 Monday Mood Board Challenge for some time now, but never had the opportunity. That finally changed and I have a card to enter, yay! See, I don’t only make cards for my own challenges, lol! *wink*
So here is the gorgeous mood board that Dawn gave us:
I had more than a few ideas from this! I created more than one too! *wink* But I’m sharing my favourite with you today, and might post the other another time.
So I really wanted to home in on that distress wood with the flowers. Here’s what I came up with:
I love how this turned out!!
I seem to be on a real ‘pretty’ kick lately, and I am just so in love with softer colours, delicate layers and beauty. I think that card shows all of those things. *smile*
I started with a Pure White card base. I stamped the woodgrain from Dockside Backgrounds using Versamark ink and heat embossed with WOW! Clear Semi Dull embossing powder. I then watercoloured it with a mix of water/Perfect Pearls coloured with Pressed Greige Linen ink. When complete I placed a sheet of paper on top and applied my iron to remove the embossing powder to leave a smooth surface to do my stamping on. I also added some Distress Paint in Picket Fence to add more of a distressed look, and even sanded the panel a bit too!
I stamped the flowers from Fresh Cut Florals and More Fresh Cuts using Distress Inks in Tattered Rose and Peeled Paint, stamping off the latter several times before committing to paper. Love the faded, timeless look!!
I was originally going to finish up the card with some cut-out stamped flower heads (you still see them on the finished card) but at the bottom right corner clustered around the sentiment, with some leaves. I tried this and although the result was fine I really didn’t like how ‘kitsch’ it was and wanted something more moden. I turned to my dear friend Debby Hughes and we had a little brainstorm and she suggested ‘making it more like Aga‘. LOL. So I performed card surgery then set to work!
I adhered a wad of gold thread to my base using touches of Glossy Accents then adhered my vellum in place with Pinflair Glue Gel. I had misted the vellum before with my Perfect Pearls Mist in Biscotti for that gorgeous finish!! I stamped the sentiment from Valentine Wishes and heat embossed with WOW! Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing powder then applied a little of my mist and the Distress Paint to vintage it up a little. I trimmed the sentiment out and adhered with Pinflair, then added my flowers and some sequins to finish up. Love the final mix of vintage and modern!!
ETA: I don’t think I have a single ‘comfort zone’ as I embrace a lot of different styles and techniques, but the technical nature and sequins and little ‘extras’ in the design mean this also qualifies for the WPlus9 Comfort Zone Challenge, I think. 🙂
Well I will hopefully be back tomorrow with another card, but I would love it if you would leave some love before you went on your way! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Geesh girl. One pretty after another. You are doing this "light and airy" so well, limedoodlish but always with pink and blooms. Beauty-full. And what's this "clear semi-dull embossing powder"? Sounds intriguing. Off to check it out.
