Hey everyone!
Happy Monday! I know, I know, Mondays are tough. We all need a little tonic to help us get through the day. Luckily there’s a new challenge in town to help us do just that – the Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge!!
This is a challenge which I’ve created myself, yay me! Every Monday I will bring you a photo inspiration challenge, with images that focus on lifting us out of those Monday doldrums and all inspired to create!! I’ll be asking you to play along as well and linking up your creations! At the end of each week I’ll pick a Top 3 who’ll be my Cures For The Monday Blues and receive a special badge to add to your blog!!
Before we get to this week’s challenge I want to thank all of you that submitted entries for the last challenge. They were all truly beautiful entries and you did not make my life easy when choosing the winners!! I really wanted to pick you all!! Here are my Top 3 Cures For The Monday Blues:
Winners please contact me to be sent your challenge winner’s badges!
So are you excited to get this week’s challenge under way?! Let’s see what’s up for this week’s inspiration:
I love all those pops of pastel and bright, almost neon, colours against all that white! And so many different patterns and awesome things to pick out! Lots of possibilities with this one!
Here’s my take on the inspiration:
Love how this turned out!
I loved the triangle blanket draped on that pink chair so that’s where my inspiration started. I started with a Sweet Blush card base and adhered some patterned paper from the Studio Calico Atlantic collection which was die cut using the Mama Elephant Femme Frames die. I swiped the edges of the paper with my GinaK Pigment White inkpad before adhering it.
Next I die cut several speech bubbles from Pure White cardstock and one from vellum using the Mama Elephant Love Quotes dies. I coloured one of them with Mama Elephant ink in Bubble Gum and one with Distress Ink in Mustard Seed. For the vellum one I stamped the co-ordinating stamp from the Love Quotes stamp set using Versamark ink before heat embossing using WOW! Metallic Platinum embossing powder. All were adhered to the patterned paper panel using Pinflair Glue Gel. This came from those 4 small prints hanging on the wall. See, inspiration everywhere! Did you see how the dark yellow print has a white moustache on it?! I so wanted to incorporate that somehow but it wouldn’t work, drat!
Onto some of the details now! I stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches’ Simply Said stamp set onto some cork using that GinaK white ink, then trimmed it out and adhered in place with Pinflair. I wanted to incorporate the woodgrain feel from the smaller chair but without the woodgrain, make sense?!
And then I took a bit of artistic license! There’s a bird ornament on the table ‘spitting’ flowers. I used this as an excuse to *finally* break out those adorable little birds from the Love Quotes set and put them to work!! They were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink, watercoloured with Distress Markers and a mix of water/Perfect Pearls, then trimmed out and adhered with Pinflair. I added some teeny tiny wood veneer hearts next to one of the birds, some Teresa Collins enamel dots around the speech bubbles, and some flair and that was me done!
So now it’s your turn to cure the Monday Blues! Here’s how to participate in the challenge!
