I’ve always loved the concept of Advent Calendars. There’s something special and magical about those little treats hidden behind those little doors – and the idea of a secret little something to be unwrapped every day really is a wonderful way to build the excitement towards Christmas, not to mention a fun tradition as well!

As the years roll by some of these types of tradition can be lost when we grow up, and it seems a real shame to lose some of that magic and wonder. And really there’s no reason at all why something such as an Advent Calendar can’t be revamped and repackaged for grown-ups, crafty grown-ups… grown-ups like you and me!

So one day in November a couple of years ago I dreamed up a fun idea for a event. I didn’t know if it would work, or if anyone would be interested. I approached some crafty friends, and others recruited themselves – everyone loved the idea! Behind the scenes I worked hard to put together something rather different and very special. After much organising, coordinating and planning, I’m really thrilled to finally bring to you a very special, very fun, very festive series! It was *hugely* popular, and so, by popular demand, I just had to bring it back again this year!

 
Advent Calendar Extravaganza is -the- festive event of the season! This ‘hop with a twist’ was dreamed up by Taheerah Atchia and features surprise destinations each day! Joining in the fun with Taheerah are ONE HUNDRED special guests – each serving up some fantastic Christmas inspiration! Just like an Advent Calendar, you’ll never know where you’re going to be visiting next until you ‘open the door’!

It’s Christmas, so sooner or later the Buffalo Plaid had to make an appearance!

I used the Scenery: Buffalo Check Creative Screenings stencil to stencil my pattern onto some red cardstock. Easy peasy plaid in one step! I used a white pen to add some lines for a bit of contrast. Not a traditional Buffalo Plaid at all but hey, who says I can’t use a little creative license? *wink*

I used the awesome In A Word: Holiday Tiles Cutaways dies to cut all my phrases in one go by keeping them all wired together. I adhered my panel onto my card base using Pinflair Glue Gel for a little dimension.

See that gold glitter beneath it? I used my Nuvo Glimmer Paste to transform what was once a white card base! Some sequins to finish off and this stylish number was done!

  8. That saturated poppy red and black background go well with the gold glimmer paste . The addition of the white line does balance the color combination. Nice card

  40. Ooooh, what a fantastic card design – so rich and festive! I love Winnie and Walter but actually don’t own too many of their products somehow… A little voucher could change the situation dramatically, LOL! Have a lovely Christmas, and I’m so glad there are still a few days left… I’ll have withdrawal symptoms after the 25th 😉

  44. Gotta love a quality plaid! This whole card just feels cozy, like you’re looking at a sparkling display from under a warm blanket, which, frankly, sounds perfect to me right now!

    Also, I have to say, as we’re getting down to the wire on Christmas, I’ve been trying to put together a bunch of cards, and I’m even more amazed at you having one card a day ready with different products and having all of these posts ready and linked. I really appreciate all the effort that you’ve put in. Less than a week to go, then you get to rest!

  45. That plaid is beautiful and this happens really fun I’m glad I found it I haven’t done every day but I’ve gotten a lot of the days anyhow and it’s not over yet
