Hey everyone! Happy Thursday!
I’m always keen and excited to use my supplies in different ways. Usually that’s in the form of stretching my stamps, but it’s also great to do that with dies too! Today I get to play with both as a part of the Blog Hop for the awesome Altenew August Release!
Try saying that three times fast. *wink*
I’ve often talked about how close to my heart Altenew is, particularly as it was started by two dear friends of mine. So when I was asked if I’d like to be a guest for this month’s release I of course jumped at the chance! And who wouldn’t, to be fair? With the amazing array of products, there’s always something for everyone – and it’s usually really versatile too! Case in point: today. Although this release is being billed as supplies for scrapbooking, they without a doubt work for cards too!
I couldn’t wait to put these goodies to the test:
I have very few supplies that work for the Islamic festival of Eid (and in fact, they all come from Altenew!) so I was excited to try the new Eid Mubarak die. It die cuts the most beautiful Arabic calligraphy that says ‘Eid Mubarak’.
I heat embossed the die cut with several different colours of embossing powder and love the festive look it gives! And see that awesome background? That’s the brand new Doodled Lace Cover Die – impressed right into the cardstock for an uber pretty impression!
I adhered the die cut with Pinflair Glue Gel for just a hint of dimension. I love how this turned out!
Next I played with the Floral Fantasy dies:
So so pretty – and in one of my favourite colour combos of mint, gold, and blush!
I die cut the flower layers and leaves from vellum and smeared some gold embossing paste onto the leaves. For the flowers I sprayed them with mists and then smeared the embossing paste on. It’s such a pretty, delicate look!
Lots of dimension on this one! I did some watercolouring in a dip-dye style on my base, built my floral arrangement, and added a fussy cut sentiment stamped with the More Than Words stamp set!
Finally, I played with the Building Blocks set, and really thought outside the box with this one:
A game controller! This one makes my geeky heart so happy! I hand cut the shaped card and stamped the various shapes to make my controller buttons! Love!
The sentiment was built from selectively inking sentiments from the More Than Words set, and I added some light shading at some of the edges using Copics. But look how awesome! It even is just about the right size to mimic a game controller!
