I’ve always loved the concept of Advent Calendars. There’s something special and magical about those little treats hidden behind those little doors – and the idea of a secret little something to be unwrapped every day really is a wonderful way to build the excitement towards Christmas, not to mention a fun tradition as well!
As the years roll by some of these types of tradition can be lost when we grow up, and it seems a real shame to lose some of that magic and wonder. And really there’s no reason at all why something such as an Advent Calendar can’t be revamped and repackaged for grown-ups, crafty grown-ups… grown-ups like you and me!
So one day in November last year I dreamed up a fun idea for a event. I didn’t know if it would work, or if anyone would be interested. I approached some crafty friends, and others recruited themselves – everyone loved the idea! Behind the scenes I worked hard to put together something rather different and very special. After much organising, coordinating and planning, I’m really thrilled to finally bring to you a very special, very fun, very festive series! It was *hugely* popular, and so, by popular demand, I just had to bring it back again this year!
Eek! How fun does that sound?! 25 full days of surprises, inspiration and prizes!!
In case you’re wondering just how it’s going to work, here’s last year’s video (I’m afraid my filmmaker friend was unavailable to help in time for this year!) to explain it:
I’m so excited to be bringing you this event! I really hope you’re going to enjoy it as much as I am!!
Let’s get on with Day 25, shall we?!
I’ve got some of my very favourite designers lined up today to continue the fun! Just click on the door to reveal today’s surprise destinations and prize! Tip: you will need to do this from the blog itself, not from a feed reader or e-mail!
The door is a bit different this year (curse of moving over to WordPress!). So, now you’ve opened it, please use the image below to find your secret links! As you see, there aren’t any text links, but tap or click on all the decorations/presents in the image below and you will find your secret destinations! *wink*
Exciting right?! Isn’t it fun to not know what’s in store at the other end of those links?! Make sure you click each one to reveal the surprise and leave comments at the destinations to win!
And speaking of winning…
Today’s sponsor is My Sweet Petunia– creators and inventors of the (Most Incredible Stamping Tool Invented) – MISTI!! What can I say about this wonderful company, and wonderful invention? It’s not very often that a product comes onto the marketplace that truly is a game changer. The MISTI is such a tool and it will change the way you stamp – forever! Not only will your images be clearer, more even and *perfect*, but you also open the door to a whole host of techniques and make mass production of designs a breeze!! A true innovation, and one that every cardmaker needs!! My Sweet Petunia are headed up by my innovative and inspirational, dear friend Iliana – she is just the most awesome person, and if you haven’t read the story of how she came up with the MISTI then please go and look it up – it’s a wonderful Christmas story!! I’m so thrilled to have them sponsor the event this year!
My Sweet Petunia are generously sponsoring a MISTI (or a Mini MISTI, if you prefer!) as their prize!! This is a prize that EVERYONE wants, believe me!! Both these sizes of MISTI are awesome, but if I were to pick one, I’d go with the original size – more versatile for techniques (and a more expensive prize too! *wink*)! And if you already have a MISTI/Mini MISTI – trust me, you’ll get on very well with a second one, haha!!
Now that you know what you can win, I’m sure you’re eager to head off to all those secret destinations to check them out! But before you go, some inspiration from me:
Seeing as it’s Christmas Day, I thought I’d give you a gift of my own – a video!! My first video in *ages*! As my card(s) for today have a tool as the sponsor’s product today, it made perfect sense to put the MISTI to use in mass producing a simple but stunning Christmas card! Please watch below, or check it out on YouTube to see it in HD!
And now some photos and some more details!
I used my Mini MISTIs (yes, plural!) to make mass production of these cards a breeze! I stamped the confetti border/corner stamp (from the Holiday Confetti stamp set from The Ton) on diagonally opposite corners, and the sentiment is from the Mama Elephant Merry Christmas Wishes set. The first card uses a white shimmer card front. I heat embossed all the images and adhered my panel to my base – and that’s all there was to it!
I had fun with different colour combos – this one features a shimmery black card front, with platinum confetti and gold sentiment!
Another favourite here – this time with a red shimmery front, and a cream embossing powder for the confetti!
And a green version – this time the confetti is in an off-white!
And one final one, with a cream shimmer base. 🙂
And here they all are together – swoon!!
Don’t forget Advent Calendar Extravaganza runs from 1st-25th December inclusive so make sure you visit taheerah-atchia.com every day for fabulous inspiration and amazing prizes every single time! Merry Christmas!
Before we close, I just want to take a few moments and thank you all for visiting here each day. I hope you’ve loved Advent Calendar Extravaganza (certainly from your comments it seems that way!). To say this event is a huge undertaking is actually an understatement – there’s so much behind the scenes work you don’t see, and so so *so* many hours that I pour into making this a celebration to remember. I hope you’ve been able to enjoy the festivities and that it’s made your holiday season a little brighter.
I also want to take the time to thank each one of the awesome sponsors and amazing guests that have helped make this event what it is. It simply wouldn’t be the same without them, and they have been so inspirational and generous with their time and their contributions. I hope you’ll take the time to show them as much love as you have me – they all deserve it.
Don’t forget you still have until the 31st of December to get all your comments in, so be sure to visit all the secret links and play along. Fit it all in during your holiday season, and I’ll be ready to draw winners in the New Year to get 2017 off to a good start!!
And finally, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!! Thank you all so much for stopping by!! I hope you’ll still visit here between now and next year’s event too!!

I want to thank you for another wonderful blog series for holiday cards! I appreciate the variety of vendors and artists participating but I especially like the fact that you limited the number of participants on a daily basis so it was still fun to look at all the cards! It was great inspiration and many good ideas for future cards!
Beautiful cards! Such a striking effect, for only using two stamps! This video showing use of the misti is so helpful! Thank you for all the inspiration and holiday spirit during this Advent Calendar. I appreciate so much, everyone’s sponsorship and participation. Happy Holidays, Taheerah!

Lovely cards! Thank you so much for all of the effort that went into the Extravaganza again this year….spectacular!
What a special Christmas gift! I love my mini MISTI and would love to add the full size one to the stack of tools. Your card is just lovely. Heat embossing is one of those techniques I still need a lot of practice doing, but I am getting better. Love the tip for lining up the card front. I have tried lots of ways, none of which work consistently for me, so I will definitely try this. Thanks again for the entire advent hop. It has provided such a wonderful break from the craziness each day. And thanks for the personal attention too! Merry Christmas a day late (I was with my grands all day yesterday and enjoyed every minute–lots of crafty colorful fun to be had with them! )

Elegant cards! I also see how useful the Misti is for people like my sister, who is not able to hold her hands steady enough to use stamps on acrylic or wood blocks. She thought she would have to give up stamping!
