I’ve always loved the concept of Advent Calendars. There’s something special and magical about those little treats hidden behind those little doors – and the idea of a secret little something to be unwrapped every day really is a wonderful way to build the excitement towards Christmas, not to mention a fun tradition as well!
As the years roll by some of these types of tradition can be lost when we grow up, and it seems a real shame to lose some of that magic and wonder. And really there’s no reason at all why something such as an Advent Calendar can’t be revamped and repackaged for grown-ups, crafty grown-ups… grown-ups like you and me!
So one day in November last year I dreamed up a fun idea for a event. I didn’t know if it would work, or if anyone would be interested. I approached some crafty friends, and others recruited themselves – everyone loved the idea! Behind the scenes I worked hard to put together something rather different and very special. After much organising, coordinating and planning, I’m really thrilled to finally bring to you a very special, very fun, very festive series! It was *hugely* popular, and so, by popular demand, I just had to bring it back again this year!
Eek! How fun does that sound?! 25 full days of surprises, inspiration and prizes!!
In case you’re wondering just how it’s going to work, here’s last year’s video (I’m afraid my filmmaker friend was unavailable to help in time for this year!) to explain it:
I’m so excited to be bringing you this event! I really hope you’re going to enjoy it as much as I am!!
Let’s get on with Day 20, shall we?!
I’ve got some of my very favourite designers lined up today to continue the fun! Just click on the door to reveal today’s surprise destinations and prize! Tip: you will need to do this from the blog itself, not from a feed reader or e-mail!
The door is a bit different this year (curse of moving over to WordPress!). So, now you’ve opened it, please use the image below to find your secret links! As you see, there aren’t any text links, but tap or click on all the decorations/presents in the image below and you will find your secret destinations! *wink*
Exciting right?! Isn’t it fun to not know what’s in store at the other end of those links?! Make sure you click each one to reveal the surprise and leave comments at the destinations to win!
And speaking of winning…
Today’s sponsor is Pinkfresh Studio! One of my all-time favourite companies that I’ve ever worked for, Pinkfresh Studio are still a fairly young company that are on the trendsetting end of the papercrafting world! Their collections and designs are *amazing* and truly a joy to work with, as is their owner, my very good friend Kinnari. I’m so thrilled to have them sponsor the event again this year!
Pinkfresh Studio are generously sponsoring a $40 goody bag, filled with goodies from their Oh Joy Collection! This collection is *fabulous* so you will definitely have fun creating with it!
Now that you know what you can win, I’m sure you’re eager to head off to all those secret destinations to check them out! But before you go, some inspiration from me:
I’ll confess – whenever I create with the Pinkfresh collections I just can’t stop!! So be prepared for a bit of an onslaught today – starting with this fun Elf-inspired card!
I used patterned paper, Thickers, acetate shapes and washi strips for this one, and added some splatter for extra fun!
Here I combined a couple of the patterned papers, some of the acetate shapes, a puffy sticker, gold foiled phrase stickers, and washi strips!
All the items work so well together in the collection, and I used just a touch of dimension for some of my elements for added impact!
Next up, I used one of the patterned paper designs and an acrylic mirror sticker. I added some Stickles and a label maker sentiment, backed onto a strip of gold glitter tape, to finish up!
You don’t really need anything more when the patterned paper is the star of the show!
And finally, a combination of patterned papers, gold foiled acetate sheet, acetate die cut, and a puffy sticker!
Lots of dimension on this one, and it looks amazing in real life!
And here are a couple of shots of them together. Go on, pick a favourite. 🙂
I’m sure you can see why I love this collection and this company so much, right?!
Don’t forget Advent Calendar Extravaganza runs from 1st-25th December inclusive so make sure you visit taheerah-atchia.com every day for fabulous inspiration and amazing prizes every single time! Merry Christmas!
I hope you love this event just as much as I do! I would love to know what you think of Advent Calendar Extravaganza! Do you love the format? The secret destinations? The endless inspiration? I bet you certainly love the chance to win prizes! Please make sure you leave a comment below! Thanks so much for stopping by – I’ll see you back here tomorrow!

Very cool cards! I really like the fresh clean look of all the cards but my favorite is the “Tis the Season” card with the polka dots! Thank you again for putting this whole advent project together! I have so enjoyed all the different ideas and seeing some stamps and dies that I hadn’t seen before. Merry Christmas!

WOW! These are all amazing!!!
O my goodness, what fun and fabulous cards!! I can’t decide which one I like best. I love how you used the patterned paper as the focus. I have some really nice papers and I sometimes don’t know what to do with it. I’ve often wondered if I could get away with sticking it on cardstock and decorating it up a bit so seeing you do it gives me permission, lol. This is such a nice collection that you used. It’s nice when companies make items that coordinate so nicely! I haven’t heard of Pinkfresh so in the new year I will have to check out their stuff
Super fun cards, Taheerah!! Such a great collection of happy cards that anyone would love to receive. I’m new to Pinkfresh so I’m looking forward to seeing more of their products. Thanks for a fun month so far!!
I adore your first card, reminds me of the Elf movie where Buddy gets excited because Santa is coming and he knows him!!!!

Great fun cards and combinations! Thanks for sharing your ideas.
What fun cards! The first one reminded me of the M&M commercial where the M&Ms faint “HE DOES EXIST” and Santa does the same! Same kind of humor! Thanks for another wonderful day!
Nice assortment of cards.
Lots of great cards today. Love the Elf quote.
LOVE your selection of cards…one is neater than the next!!
Great cards.
They are all so wonderful! I want to make all of them next year, but the first one I would make is the one Santa card from the movie Elf. Will there be a way to download all of the cards that were made for the Advent Calendar so we can refresh our memories of techniques or how the cards were made? Thanks for all your work at getting this put together. There are so many things I have seen that I want to learn and lots of time to practice after the first of the year.
I am discovering so many new companies due to this hop. I love Pinkfresh Studio’s products and will definitely be keeping an eye out for their new collections!
