I’ve always loved the concept of Advent Calendars. There’s something special and magical about those little treats hidden behind those little doors – and the idea of a secret little something to be unwrapped every day really is a wonderful way to build the excitement towards Christmas, not to mention a fun tradition as well!
As the years roll by some of these types of tradition can be lost when we grow up, and it seems a real shame to lose some of that magic and wonder. And really there’s no reason at all why something such as an Advent Calendar can’t be revamped and repackaged for grown-ups, crafty grown-ups… grown-ups like you and me!
So one day in November last year I dreamed up a fun idea for a event. I didn’t know if it would work, or if anyone would be interested. I approached some crafty friends, and others recruited themselves – everyone loved the idea! Behind the scenes I worked hard to put together something rather different and very special. After much organising, coordinating and planning, I’m really thrilled to finally bring to you a very special, very fun, very festive series! It was *hugely* popular, and so, by popular demand, I just had to bring it back again this year!
Eek! How fun does that sound?! 25 full days of surprises, inspiration and prizes!!
In case you’re wondering just how it’s going to work, here’s last year’s video (I’m afraid my filmmaker friend was unavailable to help in time for this year!) to explain it:
I’m so excited to be bringing you this event! I really hope you’re going to enjoy it as much as I am!!
Let’s get on with Day 14, shall we?!
I’ve got some of my very favourite designers lined up today to continue the fun! Just click on the door to reveal today’s surprise destinations and prize! Tip: you will need to do this from the blog itself, not from a feed reader or e-mail!
The door is a bit different this year (curse of moving over to WordPress!). So, now you’ve opened it, please use the image below to find your secret links! As you see, there aren’t any text links, but tap or click on all the decorations/presents in the image below and you will find your secret destinations! *wink*
Exciting right?! Isn’t it fun to not know what’s in store at the other end of those links?! Make sure you click each one to reveal the surprise and leave comments at the destinations to win!
And speaking of winning…
Today’s sponsor is Neat & Tangled! Yay! What can I say about this awesome company that I haven’t already said in a million blog posts?! Their designs are cute, fresh, trendy, and fun! I’ve loved every moment of my 3 years on the Neat & Tangled DT, and I can’t get enough of this wonderful company. I just *always* have fun when I create with these products! Neat & Tangled are headed up by my awesome friend Danielle, who is one of the sweetest ladies I know! I’m so thrilled to have them sponsor the event again this year!
Neat & Tangled are generously sponsoring a $25 gift certificate to their store! With an amazing array of products you’re really going to be spoilt for choice spending it!
Now that you know what you can win, I’m sure you’re eager to head off to all those secret destinations to check them out! But before you go, some inspiration from me:
Gah, so much cute I can’t stand it!! I combined some of Elena’s best sets (my friend Elena is *such* a great designer don’t you think?!) – Beary Merry, Santa’s Wonderland and Elfs And Their Shelf.
I had to stamp, mask, and stamp in stages to build this scene. A *lot* of work, but so worth it! I love how the elves are sitting on the bear’s legs! I love how the little deer is balanced on top of the bear’s head! And I love how everything is perfectly one layer! 🙂
I pulled out my Prismacolors again to colour all the images, then used my Zig Markers to add some subtle colour to the corners, blending into the base colour of the card seamlessly. They really so easy to blend with! I added some Wink of Stella to parts of the images too for some subtle shimmer. A gentle stamping of the snow stamp from Santa’s Wonderland, in gold ink, adds a perfectly subtle touch to the sky. Aaaaand I hand drew a little tag image and added the ‘from all of us’ companion sentiment by hand to complete my vision for this card!
Don’t forget Advent Calendar Extravaganza runs from 1st-25th December inclusive so make sure you visit taheerah-atchia.com every day for fabulous inspiration and amazing prizes every single time! Merry Christmas!
I hope you love this event just as much as I do! I would love to know what you think of Advent Calendar Extravaganza! Do you love the format? The secret destinations? The endless inspiration? I bet you certainly love the chance to win prizes! Please make sure you leave a comment below! Thanks so much for stopping by – I’ll see you back here tomorrow!

Very sweet ensemble card – looks like a wonderful festive group!
Oh my goodness! I actually snorted I was laughing so much. I love it ! Plotting the masking must have been crazy. It’s the deer on top of the bear’s head! He’s the one that concentrates so hard on making a Snowman! He always makes me laugh and now in my mind he’s concentrating on doing something to that poor bear’s head. My only excuse is that I haven had my tea yet? It’s a masterpiece Taheerah!
Too stinkin’ cute!!! I love the reindeer on top of the polar bears heads head the best. I think.
Look at all that happiness! Gorgeous coloring on all these sweeties. I, too, love the elves sitting on the bears legs. Love Neat & Tangled!

Adorable! I know a lot of work building but worth it in the end.
I am in awe of your talent and patience with this masking marvel. Just a beautiful creation, especially intertwining (quite literally) all 3 sets of stamps. Such a smile-inducing card!
A masking marvel in every way, Taheerah, with results that are nothing short of mega-watt smile inducing! From the bear, to the deer atop his head, to the elves, to the Santa, stack o’ gifts and snowman…this is a work of wonderful creativity! That snowman’s expression…oh my! Precious!
Hugs~c

I just found your site through Melissa at LilyBeanPaperie. Such a fun idea. Beautiful card featuring the Neat & Tangled stamps. The elves are too cute!
All the work has paid off. It looks wonderful.
I do hope the recipient of this card understands exactly how much work all that masking is! I have finally broken down and done it, but I can’t say I love doing it (:-)) Maybe as I gain more experience….we’ll see. I did two bouquet cards for my grand-girls for their dance recital. Now THEY are definitely worth it!!! Thanks for this very adorable card that only looks simple!
