Hi everyone! Happy Friday!

Tomorrow, 1st October, is World Card Making Day. But it’s also the start of a very special event: the Caring Hearts Card Drive.

Now entering its 7th year, the Caring Hearts Card Drive is headed up by Vera Yates. Vera, along with Jennifer McGuire and a team of volunteers, collect handmade holiday cards sent in by people from all over the world, and then distribute them to elderly people living in care homes. After a couple of years of wanting to get involved with the Drive (but with personal things getting in the way) I’m personally delighted to be heading up the UK/Europe arm of things this year! The Card Drive runs from 1st October – 25th November 2016 inclusive. Tune in to Vera’s blog tomorrow for more details!

In the meantime, we are joining in with SugarPea Designs today, who have a special release especially for the Caring Hearts Drive! Wendy has designed some amazing stamps and dies with a kindness theme in mind! The release is already available on the SugarPea Designs website, and 20% of all proceeds from sales of the Caring Hearts stamp set and dies to the Alzheimers Association too!

I went for a super-CAS design that lets the message of the Drive shine through:

Caring Hearts - One Kind Word Can Change Someone's Day Card by Taheerah Atchia

I used the heartbeat image from the Caring Hearts set and heat embossed it with sparkling red embossing powder to make it pop!

The sentiment I used is from the Kindness Matters set and is actually one stamp but I selectively inked it so I could split it between the heartbeat.

Love how it turned out!

  1. I simply NEED that stamp! The red, black and white are stunning in their simplicity. It totally WORKS!!! Thanks for inspiring me.

  2. Very pretty cas and a one layer card. I like how it gets the idea across of making a person’s day better with perhaps only one kind word. Thank you this inspiration.

  3. Love it – clean, simple and so very heart warming ❤
I think I’d melt getting a card like this in the mail haha
Thanks for the inspiration and for backing such a great cause!

  4. Your card is beautiful and touching, Taheerah, but what sets my heart racing is the role you’re undertaking with this ever so-worthwhile drive! Kudos to you for reaching out, investing time and energy to bring joy to others. Guaranteed it will be returned to you, multi-fold. I’m not sure if you knew but: nearly 75-80% of my cards go to the seniors residence where my mom’s been a volunteer for nearly 37 years! Some of my cards are given to residents to acknowledge their birthdays; others are sold in the gift kiosk my mom’s group operates; yet more are sold at their annual Christmas bazaar. All money remains with the volunteer group who use the proceeds from them, as well as other things, to make special purchases for the seniors. My cards don’t bring in a ‘fortune’ as costs are kept low for residents and staff, but they do bring smiles. I’m just thrilled that my creations are going to good homes; that, alone, brings me joy! Anyway…your card and involvement are simply awesome…
    Hugs~carol
