Black And Gold

Hey everyone! How are you all today?

Thank you so much for bearing with me and my somewhat wordy posts over the last couple of days. And thank you so much to those of you who commented on my new goals and provided so much encouragement! You rock!

I have a feeling you might want to see a card now instead huh? *wink*

I’m still loving gold like it’s, well, golden, so I guess it’s not surprising that I’m featuring it on a card again today. Feels like it’s been too long! *wink*

As mentioned in my Goals yesterday, I want to keep exploring different styles and one thing I’ve wanted to do more of is that modern-scrapbooking style that is so light and airy and effortlessly perfect. Some layers and colours, but never too much, so that white space is still given centre stage. Deceptively easy-on-the-eye, but requiring incredible skill to pull off.

Here’s my take on all of that, to come up with this:

Gold is so tricky to photograph so please forgive me for not having mastered my photography goal yet. *wink*

I really love the splatters of gold on the Pure White card base, with the secondary black splatter as well (that’s those Heidi Swapp Colour Shine mists playing their part again). The vellum layer features some more of that too, so there’s that lovely layered effect without being too heavy. That May Arts Metallic Gold String held in place with little dabs of Glossy Accents so that it behaves just right.

The Polaroid frame was created with the Fabulous Frames dies then passed through again at the bottom to shorten it, then stamped with the Hero Arts Tweed pattern using Memento Luxe ink in Tuxedo Black. Adhered in place with Pinflair Glue Gel and framing that gorgeous WPlus9 Valentine Wishes sentiment which is embossed with my go-to WOW! Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing powder. A scattering of sequins to finish off.

ETA: Thanks to a tip-off from one of my awesome commenters, I am also linking this up to the colourQ Challenge #222:

I’m tackling some DT work today so tomorrow will be the first in a new series of segments on this blog. I hope you’ll tune in to see what it is! In the meantime I would love it if you would leave some love before you head on your way! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Gorgeous card, Taheerah! Love the use of vellum. It softens the feel and look of the card. Great spatter and gold embossing. Are you linking this to the ColourQ challenge? It is perfect for the challenge.
