Hey everyone! Happy Tuesday!
Before I get down to business, just my usual reminder: you still have a couple of days to comment on the Made With Love Blog Hop – but time is running out!! Click here to get started and to be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes!!
So, one of the guys at work has recently welcomed a new baby into the world, and I volunteered to make the baby card for him whilst we did a little collection at work to get them some gifts. I was really happy to do so!
Now, the thing is, we always make fun of each other at work. It helps us get through the tougher times and we have a good laugh too! So when this opportunity came up, and given that the card was to be given from the whole team, I decided to do something a little… unconventional:
lol! You have to lol don’t you! I think this is a great baby card personally – and all the child-phobic guys on my team agreed!!
I started with a Rustic White card base and stamped the sentiment using the letters from Mama Elephant’s Midnight Letters set. This is *why* I love alphabet sets – custom sentiments!! I loved using the little star in the set to punctuate each word – so fun! I also used one of the sentiments from Clear And Simple Stamps’ Little Uglies Too set. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink for both.
Then came the little monster himself! He is from the Little Uglies set and stamped onto some Studio Calico patterned paper using Versafine ink. I trimmed him out and adhered him to the base using Pinflair Glue Gel and that was it!
Now, before you wonder if this guy was offended at all, let me just say – he loved his card. In fact he was astonished to learn it was handmade – he said he already thought it was one of the better cards they’d received and that he thought it was even better now he knew it was me that made it!
I’m glad this story ended well, lol.
Right, well, I would love to know what you think of this card! Thanks so much for stopping by – see you again soon I hope!
You are on such a roll, Taheerah!! LOVE this. LOVE it. That SC patterned paper is just perfect. Subtle, but messy. Sentiment design is spot-on. The whole idea is perfect for a new Daddy card. Actually, I don't recall ever seeing a "masculine" baby card.
I love how your mind works! What a fun baby card to treasure forever!
Linda
A card made with thought for both the those sending and receiving – perfect! Love the subtle paper for your monster and that sentiment is a killer!
LOL! I LOVE, LOVE this card! That little monster is adorable, and I really like how you created your own sentiment. Now I'm off to check out those stamps. 🙂
Awww, I love it for an unconventional baby card! That little monster is too cute and love that cool sentiment you created!
Oh my! This card is so cute Taheerah!! The monster is really adorable! Love your unconventional ways of designing cards!
