Hey everyone! Happy Monday!
It’s time for Day 11 of my Valentine’s Showcase! Day 11 already!
For those of you stumbling across this for the first time, this is what I’m on about:
Due to the popularity of my 25 Days of Christmas Cards posts (well, they were popular with me anyway!), I thought I’d bring you a series of cards that are perfect for Valentine’s Day! And, just to give this series a little twist, I am challenging myself and keeping them all as cards that are suitable for guys! Every year I see a smorgasbord of beautiful Valentine’s cards, and they are all very well done and very inspiring – but they all tend to be very girly. So I’m bucking the trend and bringing you a fortnight of cards dedicated to the men in our lives!
This series has been so much fun, and has really pushed me too!
So today’s card is for the gamer guys. Specifically, the retro gamer guys. And before I show you the card I’ve created that I think this is one of my most awesome cards ever!
ZOMG!! I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this!!! All from scratch! All those details!! I’m in love!!!
I started for a True Black card base and adhered some strips of Blueberry Sky cardstock to create my game level.
I then trimmed out some ‘walls’ into letters to spell ‘LOVE’ and adhered them in place.
Next came Pac Man! I used one of the centres from an ‘O’ die cut from Harvest Gold cardstock using the Modern Alphabet dies and cut a segment out to make his trademark shape. He is adhered with Pinflair Glue Gel. I then drew the dots in place next with a UniBall Signo Marker.
Next came the heart! Die cut from Hibiscus Burst cardstock using the Simon Says Stamp Mini Hearts Set dies and adhered with Pinflair.
Finally, the ghosts! Again the negatives from some letter die cuts, this time from Stamper’s Select White cardstock using the Black Alphabet dies, then pressed into some Colorbox inks to colour. I drew the eyes on with the UniBall marker and a Memento Tuxedo Black marker. They are adhered with Pinflair too.
I *really* want to hear your thoughts on this card! I love it so *so* much!!
Please join me back here tomorrow for Day 12, I would love to see you there! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Great job! I love this card. Thank you for sharing the details.
Fabulousness!! I absolutely adore PacMan…but this card is fantastic! Until you pointed it out, I didn't see the love, but that is so stinkin' clever! I think I was just skimming over too much, b/c when I go back and look, it kind of smacks you in the forehead ;o) Love it! So smart!
Taheerah! This is amazing! I image this took you forever – but so worth it!
so creative and fun! I can identify with your excitement about the card! That's what makes what we do so rewarding…the pleasure of being pleased when we're done!
TFS!
This is just brilliant and I will absolutely be casing it someday for my two boys! Which left over from the die cut did you use for the ghost? Did you just kind of hand cut the bottoms?
Clever, clever girl you are!
Linda
Ummm, genius?!? You had me at "retro game" and then you go and spell "love" in the pac man maze? Over the moon!! Really enjoyed hearing how you made the elements. I could see this being a funky T shirt design or something like that!
Oh how I love this card. I think you are so creative. I wouldn't be able to give this card away if it were mine. Good going gal.
Love it! My biggest fear in reading your blog is that I love your creations so much that I want to make the same thing!
Cool! Love Pac Man! Fabby card 🙂
This is genius! I love it! How adorable and creative!
Aaaahhh!!!! I LOVE this! So so cute! I mean, it would have been adorable with just the ghosts and pacman and heart, but the fact that it spells LOVE too?! So fun!
Oh, this is so fabulous, T.! I love it and my kids do, too!
Oh Taheerah I totally agree!! It's my favourite card of yours as well!! I love it its so clever and quirky!!
This is so super fun! I LOVE it!!!
Awesome! I would love to receive this valentine from my husband :). It's not just for guys! And it was clever how you incorporated "love"- I don't even notice until you pointed it out!!
