Hey everyone!! Happy Wednesday!!
Today’s post is one that feels like I’ve been waiting for. ever. to share – and at last the time is here!! I have an announcement to make…
I’m joining the Newton’s Nook Designs Design Team!!!
I could not be more thrilled to be joining this fantastic young company and working alongside these talented ladies!! Thank you so much to Jeff and Jennifer for giving me a chance!!
Now, I won’t lie. One of my main motivations for applying for the team was to work more with those cute kittys, hehe. But Newton’s Nook is more than just cats! There are loads of cute endearing sets with a variety of themes – you’re bound to find something you fall in love with!! For me my heart will always be with the cat images, of course, but I am really looking forward to expanding on that and showing you what else is on offer!!
So I thought I’d accompany today’s announcement with another tag that features the amazing Newton’s Holiday Mischief! I could hardly wait to ink this one up again! I really loved the vintage feel of the last tag and decided to echo that with today’s creation:
What do you think?! I love love *love* this so much!!!
I started by stamping Newton onto Pure White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then proceeded to colour him with Copics. I was aiming to make him look like Newton himself – and I think I succeeded – even starting to get some of that fur texture and striping now!! I cut stamped him a second time just to cut out the three lights that are over his body, then coloured those with Copics before dabbing on some Mama Elephant inks in Apple and Mojito over the top to give them a glow! I did this over Newton’s body ever so slightly too and it really adds so much!! I adhered the lights onto Newton using Pinflair Glue Gel then set about creating my tag.
I die cut the tag twice from Pure White cardstock using the Embellished Tag die, and twice from patterned paper from the My Mind’ Eye Sky’s The Limit: Find Your Wings & Fly collection. I’ve been loving those ‘double tag’ tags that seem to be emerging these days (I’ve seen both Debby Hughes and Laura Bassen do it so it must be the next in-thing!) and I really wanted to create my own version here! I adhered the patterned paper tags to the back of the cardstock tags, then set to work about dressing those tags up!
I stamped Newton again on the front tag then blended some Distress Ink in Vintage Photo over the entire tag to bring in that warm vintage feel. I coloured the lights only and dabbed on the ink again for that glow, then flicked on some Perfect Pearls Mist in Pewter and some Mister Huey’s in Calico Shine. I stamped the letters from PTI’s Instant Photo: Holidays set using Versafine Onyx Black ink, stamping off once first so that the effect wasn’t too bold. I adhered Newton using Pinflair then punched a hole and added a little tag reinforcer die cut and punched from the same patterned paper.
I did a sort of double inset die cut thing here, so the tiniest centre of the reinforcer is cardstock and the outer ring is patterned paper, and reversed those on the patterned paper side (it’s all in the details details details – even if you can’t see them!).
Onto the second of the tags now! I gave this the same ink blending and splattering as the front tag, and stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Confetti set. Same tag reinforcer treatment as before. You might be able to see that double inset thing I mentioned a bit more clearly here!
I tied both tags together using some Sterling Silver Metallic Cord, and added a tiny bit of Pinflair between the tags to keep them at an angle from each other and to give a little dimension between the two. As a final finishing touch I went over each light with my Wink of Stella Glitter Pen in Clear, to add some glint and dazzle! And that, I think, was everything! A *lot* of detail and loving attention was paid to every aspect of this tag, and I love it so very much!!
I hope you’re still here by the end of all that, lol! One last thing – please do check out the Newton’s Nook Blog today to check out the other girls on the team and then go off to check out their blogs and give them a warm welcome!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I would love it if you would leave some love before you went on your way!
