Birthdays Are Cool

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday!

I’m away this weekend so I’ve had to schedule some posts for you – I hope you don’t mind!

So, it’s my Dad’s birthday on Monday. My Dad is super-awesome so he deserves a super-awesome card!

*squeals and bounces* I could not be happier with how this turned out!!! Don’t you just love it when a card turns out *exactly* as you’d seen it in your head?!

And in case anyone doesn’t get the reference – it’s the 11th Doctor’s costume from Doctor Who!! *beams*

I started with a panel of Kraft cardstock. You might have thought this might have been patterned paper but it’s all stamping baby! I stamped the Hero Arts Tiny Ink Spots Background stamp repeatedly using Tim Holtz Distress Paints in Vintage Photo and Rusty Hinge, sometimes dragging the stamp across the cardstock a little to get the fabric pattern! I then inked up only one edge of the stamp with Clear And Simple Stamps’ Brown Leather Satchel ink and dragged that down to create some more texture. I *love* how this turned out!!

I trimmed the panel in two and added cuts and folds to make the jacket lapels, inked all the edges, then adhered to my Rustic White card base using Pinflair Glue Gel.

Next I set about creating the bow tie. I die cut the bow from Scarlet Jewel felt using one of the Bow Trio: Large dies from Clear And Simple Stamps. I didn’t cut the tails part of the die, just the bow and its tie. I assembled and adhered the bow together with some tacky glue then adhered to my base using Pinflair Glue Gel.

As some finishing touches I adhered some Kraft buttons to the jacket using Glossy Accents.

I also finished the inside with a sentiment (paraphrased from one of the Doctor’s phrases), stamping it using the MFT Typewriter Alphabet set and stamping with SU! Soft Suede ink. Love how this tied the whole idea together!

I love love *love* this card so so much!! I really hope my Dad does too! And I would love to know what you think of it as well – please leave some love! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
