14 Days of Valentine’s Cards – Day 5!

Hey everyone! So nice to see you here again!

I’m bringing you Day 5 of my Valentine’s Showcase. In case you’re playing catch-up, here’s what’s cookin’:

Due to the popularity of my 25 Days of Christmas Cards posts (well, they were popular with me anyway!), I thought I’d bring you a series of cards that are perfect for Valentine’s Day! And, just to give this series a little twist, I am challenging myself and keeping them all as cards that are suitable for guys! Every year I see a smorgasbord of beautiful Valentine’s cards, and they are all very well done and very inspiring – but they all tend to be very girly. So I’m bucking the trend and bringing you a fortnight of cards dedicated to the men in our lives!

I have to admit, this is a ton of fun, but I’m starting to have to really wrack my brains to keep figuring out new and different ideas to show you, lol!

So, here’s what I have to offer today:

I’m hoping you think this is fun and cute! I certainly do!! We use Post-Its all over the place to track work and make notes or brainstorm ideas, so I really feel quite at home with seeing one on a card, lol!

This is also very CAS. There’s very little stamping or anything involved. I kinda feel like I’m cheating a bit with this one, but I wanted a clean look, so there you go!

Anyway, let’s get onto some details, shall we? 🙂

I started by die cutting a rectangle of Lemon Tart cardstock using the Rectangular Labels die.

I then stamped the checkboxes from Santa Stationery using Smokey Shadow ink before adding the ticks from the same. Christmas stamps don’t always have to just be for Christmas – particularly a versatile couple of images like these!

I then added the qualities and the P.S. I Love You sentiments. Searching for which stamp set I used? I didn’t – that’s my bona fide handwriting! I hope you can read it!! In case you can’t it says ‘Clever, Witty, Funny, Charming, P.S. I Love You.

I used a Sakura Stardust pen in a dark brown/grey kinda colour – luckily it co-ordinates really well with my Smokey Shadow ink! It leaves a subtle glitter which I know is not manly, but I figure that’s okay as it’s a girl writing the note to a guy, and we probably would use a glitter pen if we had one. *wink* And hey, at least it’s authentic me, right? 🙂

I curled the ends of my ‘Post-It’ with my fingers to add some dimension, then added a strip of Scor Tape to the back to make it a real-life sticky note!

Finally, I adhered the ‘Post-It’ to a Stamper’s Select White card base, using the sticky Scor Tape edge a little but also adding plenty of Pinflair Glue Gel to provide support. Don’t want that note going anywhere!

I would really love to hear your thoughts on this card, and on my series so far. How are your Valentine’s cards going? Are you going masculine like me, and if so have these posts help spark some inspiration? I’d love to know!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Brilliant! I LOVE the post it note idea. My Husband often leaves me post it "love" notes around the house. I am so stealing this idea for a card for him. I hope you don't mind ;)))

  2. I'm loving the ultra CAS look for this card, Taheerah! I thought you really used a Post-It…that was clever to use the cardstock (especially for those of us with terrible handwriting and would have to print out something). Very clever card!
