14 Days of Valentine’s Cards – Day 8!

Hi everyone! Happy Friday!

I’m back today with Day 8 of my Valentine’s Showcase! These days are just flying by!

For those of you who are playing catch-up, not to worry. Here’s the low-down:

Due to the popularity of my 25 Days of Christmas Cards posts (well, they were popular with me anyway!), I thought I’d bring you a series of cards that are perfect for Valentine’s Day! And, just to give this series a little twist, I am challenging myself and keeping them all as cards that are suitable for guys! Every year I see a smorgasbord of beautiful Valentine’s cards, and they are all very well done and very inspiring – but they all tend to be very girly. So I’m bucking the trend and bringing you a fortnight of cards dedicated to the men in our lives!

Fun huh?! I’ve really enjoyed bringing you this series and hope you’ve enjoyed it too!

So, today’s card. You know when you have an idea in your head, and then when you sit down to create it… it turns out exactly as you’d planned? Yeah, that:

Doing happy giddy bounces over here!! I’m so so *so* pleased with this!!

I wanted to create the look of tree bark that had been carved into, without stamping. Actually carving. And it was as easy as I imagined!

I started with a Pressed Greige Linen card base. I then stamped Waltzingmouse Stamps’ Woodgrain (of course!) over it using Versamark ink. I was going for a silver birch look hence not using any brown!

I then coated the base with Filigree White embossing powder… BUT… instead of heat embossing straight away, I used a tool to scrape my design on – literally my way of carving into the bark!

Then all I needed to do was heat set it and I was all done! Quick and simple, elegant, stylish – and easy!!

I would *love* to hear what you think about this card! I’m so proud of it and can’t help being all giddy about it! I’ll be back later today with my homework from the Clean & Simple Card Making 2 class so I hope to catch you then! Later lovelies!

  1. Wish I could be the paparazzi and spy on you… and see how you make this LOVELY card. I love love love the birch look! Maybe you should do a video to spare the paparazzi!?
