14 Days of Valentine’s Cards – Day 2!

By Taheerah | 2nd February 2013 | 8 Comments

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday!

I’m sharing the second in my series of Valentine’s cards! For those of you who missed yesterday’s post, here’s the low-down:

Due to the popularity of my 25 Days of Christmas Cards posts (well, they were popular with me anyway!), I thought I’d bring you a series of cards that are perfect for Valentine’s Day! And, just to give this series a little twist, I am challenging myself and keeping them all as cards that are suitable for guys! Every year I see a smorgasbord of beautiful Valentine’s cards, and they are all very well done and very inspiring – but they all tend to be very girly. So I’m bucking the trend and bringing you a fortnight of cards dedicated to the men in our lives!

Fun right?! So, here’s what I have for you for Day 2:

I love this card so much! Definitely a guy card, no girly hearts or anything but still a love card – that’s a manly card!!

I started with a True Black card base and stamped the rev counters from the Zoom Goes My Heart set from The Craft’s Meow using Versamark ink. The tick marks on the left counter are actually a smaller arc stamp so I stamped that repeatedly to get this effect. I then heat embossed with White Filigree Embossing Powder.

I added the dials with Versamark ink then heat embossed with Zing! Embossing Powder. I have to say, though I like the colours, I’m not too impressed with the finish of these powders. It’s too large a grain for my liking so the coverage isn’t great. I’ll be switching my colours to WOW! equivalents I think!

Finally I added the sentiment and heat embossed with white again. The sentiments are actually straight so I curved them to match the circumference of the counter. Gotta love photopolymer stamps!!

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I’m keen to know your feedback on this series and the cards I’m posting for it. I’m especially keen to know if there are any particular types of masculine cards you’re struggling with or would like to see me represent here. I’m aiming for a variety of styles and themes with a strong masculine undercurrent, so if there’s something in particular you’d like to see please let me know!

Right, well! It’s a very busy crafting weekend ahead! I still have my homework for Clean & Simple Card Making 2 to do so I can hopefully post that later today! What are your plans this weekend?

Thanks for stopping by – hope to see you again soon!
